This sign, though somewhat difficult to read at first, begs a rather obvious question.

The question is this:
Was this building once considered to be mammoth, was it named after someone with a mammoth name, or was it the home of Mammoth Building, a construction company with high hopes for the future?
In any event, the mammoth object of this sign is likely 80 years gone, as this building, like several others in the town, was built near the turn of the century. The biggest population boom in the area occurred in 1892-1893, with the arrival of the railroad.
The two storey brick building is presently the (unadvertised) fire station. Admittedly, this is the first fire hall we've seen that has no signage.
