Beautiful 1906 railway depot, relocated slightly and restored as a visitor's center. But with a "twist".

This station originally stood about 300 yards to the northeast, on the other side of the active rail line. It was moved in the mid-1990's to a several-acre site, where it serves as a visitor's center.
There is a bronze survey disk mounted vertically in the north wall of the station. By comparing the mark's present position with the description written when it was set, we know the building was rotated 180 degrees when placed on its new foundation.
Directions: South on US-21 from downtown Statesville. Just past the RR tracks, the depot will be on your left. Easy parking available. This is well worth a visit if you are in the vicinity.
