This beach has been rated in the top 10 beaches in the world and has shelving sands making it ideal for swimming and snorkeling as well aa being an access point (via boat) to the worlds second largest coral reef.
Playa Pilar is located 7km west of the popular island Cayo Guillermo, which is linked by a long road crossing the sea. This is a glorious get-a-way beach resort for some peace and relaxation right by the waters edge. For the adventure-seekers out there, also offered are diving and snorkelling excursions.
At Playa Pilar, you find a bar, restaurant that offers drinks and meals at reasonable prices such as a succulent lobster lunch for 15 CUC or 18 CUC with extra shrimp. There is a toilet. You can rent sunbeds (2 CUC), and there are many palapas and beach shelters for those wishing to stay in the shade.
Dogs are allowed although there is no car access there is a clearly marked car park free for public use and the Jardines del Rey tour bus runs to/from here around five times each day.
