[DE] Während eines Bombenangriffs auf Gießen am 6. Dezember 1944 wurde die Stadtkirche vollständig zerstört. Das Areal der Stadtkirche wurde in eine Grünfläche umgebaut. Heute weisen dort Steinlinien auf den Grundriss der ehemaligen Kirche hin.
Der Glockenturm der ehemaligen Kirche ist als ältestes Gebäude der Kernstadt Gießens heute noch erhalten. 1955 erhielt der Turm vier neue Glocken, die vom Bochumer Verein aus Gussstahl gegossen wurden. Sie erklingen in den Schlagtönen h0, d1, e1 und g1.
Der Stadtkirchenturm ist der höchste öffentlich zugängliche Turm in der Gießener Innenstadt und bietet eine wunderbare Aussicht über Gießen und das Lahntal. Wer die Aussicht von oben genießen möchte, kann im Oberhessischen Museum gegen ein Pfand von 5 € den Schlüssel zum Aufstieg bekommen. Öffnungszeiten: Dienstag - Sonntag von 10 - 15.30 Uhr

[EN] During a bombing raid on Gießen on 6 December 1944 the town church was completely destroyed. The area of the town church was turned into a green space. Stone lines still indicate the outline of the former church.
The bell tower of the old church is still standing as the oldest building in the town of Gießen today. In 1955 the tower got four new bells which were cast from steel. They sound to the beat tones h0, d1, e1 and g1.
The town church tower is the tallest publicly accessible tower in the town center and offers a wonderful view over Gießen and the Lahn valley. In order to enjoy the view from above, one can go to the nearby Oberhessisches Museum and get the key for a deposit of 5 €. Opening times: Tuesday - Sunday from 10 - 15.30
