In Norwood's Highland Cemetery, is a memorial to soldiers of World War I.
To get to the monument, drive through the northwest (main) gate and drive to the Administrative and Chapel buildings. The monument is straight ahead in the intersection.
The monument is a simple rectangular stone or concrete slab about 5 feet high, and inches thick. The rounded top has accents engraved. The front has a bronze plaque. The top of the plaque has a scene showing doughboy soldiers in battle. Below that is an embossed design of a circle and star with banners. Below that is the following text:
"In memory of their comrades who in the World War on land and sea fought valiantly suffered endured gare all in service and gained through death immortal life.
This monument is dedicated by Norwood Post No. 70 American Legion
MCMXXI."
Below that are three embossed circular designs. There is nothing in the back.
