"Old City Hall is eligible for listing on the National Register under Criterion A for its association with the growth and development of the city of Vallejo, as well as Vallejo ' s early political development. The building is significant in local history in the context of politics and government. The city of Vallejo was incorporated in 1867, and much of its growth was tied to the railroad and shipping industries. Vallejo' s first City Hall reflects the establishment and growth of the city. It was built at a time when the city was expanding and becoming a key player in the transportation and shipping networks of northern California in the last decades of the 19th century." (visit link)
