A local farmer, who apparently lives in town, parks his tractors alongside the highway for everyone to admire when they aren't actually out in the field earning their keep. All of the tractors, most dating back to the 1950s or earlier, show signs of being well maintained and the effects of recent use.
The John Deere Model D was manufactured in two basic styles from 1923 to 1953, the longest production run for any John Deere model. The unique timing for its two cylinder engine, designed to reduce vibration and make the engine run smoother, produces a distinctive exhaust sound, resulting in the tractor being nicknamed the "Poppin' Johnny".
