Julian and Dick get to Finniston on bikes and Anne and George arrive by bus. At Finniston farm the Five meet up with Harry and Harriet, and an American boy called Junior, the son of a Mr Henning.
The old man at the antique shop in the village tells the children of a castle nearby that burnt down. The castle is now long gone. It belonged to Lord Finniston, who perished with the castle. Lady Finniston managed to escape via a secret passage to the nearby chapel. Obviously the children decide to investigate the castle, which must be somewhere on Finniston Farm. They find the castle and the treasure.
