The Hamilton Building, constructed in 1892-93 (restored 1977) for Henry Winslow Corbett, is located at 529 SW Third Avenue. Architects, Whidden & Lewis. This was Portland's FIRST office building to be designed in the Classical Revival Style. At the time of its construction, this was the heart of Portland's business district. The Hamilton was the forerunner of commercial architecture. During this time, commercial buildings tended to be ornate, even overly so, but this structure has a straightforward design with just the right amount of decoration.
