Ivancice is a town in the South Moravian Region of the Czech Republic, 21 km south-west of Brno. Ivancice was first mentioned in 1221, and from 1288 it had the status of a royal town.
A dominant feature of Ivancice is without a doubt the Gothic parish Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary with high tower, finished by a unique Renaissance top with gallery.

Soucasný kostel stojí pravdepodobne na míste, kde stával jeho drevený predchudce. Podle dostupných materiálu se lze domnívat, že stavba soucasného kostela byla zapocata v r. 1288, kdy bylo mesto povýšeno do stavu královských mest. Rozestavený, ješte nezklenutý kostel byl v roce 1304 vypálen Kumány sloužícími ve vojsku rakouského vévody Albrechta. Z té doby se dochovaly pouze presbytár, krypta, vež a obvodové zdivo bocních lodí. Kostel byl postupne zaklenut v prubehu 15. století. Pozdeji byla vestavena na západní strane hlavní lodi gotické stavby renesancní hudební kruchta.
Trojlodí farního chrámu má dnes bazilikální podobu. V letech 1947 – 53 provedl architekt Klaudius Madlmayer rozsáhlou opravu.
