The plaza consists of 3 upright panels listing the names of those who served or died. The middle panel includes a list of abbreviations used. It also has medallions of the various branches of service. Seven flags frame the memorial including service flags. Instead of being engraved, newer names have been attached to the memorial.

This memorial honors those from Tallassee who served during the periods of World War I through Desert Storm. But, it does not include the names of all who served. Individuals and/or family members of the deceased and living paid to have their names added. Many chose not to pay.

It indicates those who received the Purple Heart, Bronze and Silver Star as well as the Medal of Honor. It also shows those who were KIA and a POW.

Plans are underway to add brick pavers to also include non-war veterans.
