This enormous Dungeness Crab statue is located in the Maffeo Sutton Park, a harborside park in Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada.

Within the park, the statue is appropriately located near the entrance to the fishing pier. The 3.9 meter by 3.0 meter crab was carved from a single red cedar tree. After being coated with a fiberglass, it was sanded to bring out its color and highlight its details.

The following information is from the City of Nanaimo Public Art Inventory website:

"Carved with a chain saw and power tools, this super sized sea creature combines natural and industrial materials and is nestled in the rocks along Nanaimo's shoreline near a popular spot for fishing and crabbing."
