The complex occupies a surface of 2 square kilometers. The location of the observatory was chosen after an extensive search of a place with skies cleared and dark during most of the year, above the clouds. It is calculated that in the summer period the sky remains cleared during a 90% of the nights. The enclave of the Observatory can be visited without problems, it is an adjoining zone with La Caldera de Taburiente National Park. Since this zone we have some spectacular views. In the clear days the neighboring islands are seen.
