The 2011 pedestrian and bicycle bridge at the 63rd Avenue and Loop 101 provides regional connectivity to the Valley's multi-use pathway system from Thunderbird Park in Glendale to Papago Park in Phoenix and beyond. The cable-stay bridge has 20 cables that are each 1 and 3/8 inches thick, holding the bridge in place. The bridge is 260 feet across and weighs approximately 198 tons.
The total cost to build the bridge was $2.5 million, which was completely funded from federal sources.The bridge is the first of its kind in Arizona.
