The Brilliant Expansion Project was constructed between 2003 and 2007 by Columbia Power Corporation and Columbia Basin Trust.
Generates new power without additional water storage
Doubles the generation capacity at the Brilliant site
Creates hundreds of person years of employment
Injects over $50 million into the local economy
Provides money for regional development
The nearly complete powerhouse shows little indication of the massive excavation and generation machinery below. Power production began in 2007. Profits and expenses are shared equally by the partners.

Columbia Basin Trust was created in 1995 to support efforts by the people of the Columbia Basin to create a legacy of social, economic and environmental well-being, and to achieve greater self-sufficiency for present and future generations. CBT partners with CPC in new power development initiatives and reinvests profits in the Columbia Basin.
Green Power Slows Climate Change
Our clean renewable hydro generation offsets demand for power from other sources. For example, producing an equal amount of power by burning fossil fuels would create an estimated half million tonnes of climate-altering greenhouse gases every year.
Columbia Power Corporation is a Crown Corporation created to undertake new power development protects as a joint venture partner with Columbia Basin Trust. CPC supplies half of the capital, receives half of the profits, and manages these projects in a sustainable manner.
