This marker depicts the early days of the automobile from the period of 1910 to 1960 and also explains the importance of Waysiders and “mountain top service centers, which in the latter part of the century, most of them closed to the public.

This marker was placed by America’s Byways as part of the Maryland’s National Road Project.
