First United Presbyterian Church held its first service on April 19, 1889 with the Rev. Robert McCastin officiating. The church was officially organized on June 9, 1889. They held services in a tent for their first year. A building was constructed in 1891 and was in use until this current building was constructed in 1926.

The church is a rectangular, tan-colored brick building with a gabled roof. It faces south with the main entrance under an enclosed portico with a stone arched entry. The double wood doors have leaded glass sidelights. Above the entrance and on the sides of the sanctuary, tall, arched segmented stained glass windows have stone surrounds. At the southwest corner of the building, a massive brick bell tower reaches toward the sky. At the rear of the sanctuary is a two-story classroom area, with a partially-exposed basement. Windows here are multi-paned.

First United Presbyterian Church is one of 1409 contributing properties to the Guthrie Historic District. The church is located at a major intersection, northeast of the downtown area, at the northeast corner of N. Division and E. Noble (Highway 33).

The church is under the Cimarron Presbytery and has Sunday services at 10:45am. Sunday School is held at 9:30am, with youth group on Wednesdays at 5:32pm. The church office is open Mon-Thurs. from 9-3. 405-282-0835.
