This tower was built in 1942 as part of the region's defensive fortifications. Due to its location, with one of the most commanding views in the city, it was perfectly suited to keep watch on the waters around Victoria. Information was transmitted from here to the plotting room at Fort Rodd Hill, the main fort in the area. Like most of the other fortifications in Greater Victoria, this tower was abandoned in 1956. It now has stairs up one side to a viewing platform on the roof.
