The Smithsonian Inventory (
visit link) describes the lifesized bronze 1993 work by sculptors Robert Shure and Moisey Altshuler thusly:
"A bronze figure of a soldier stands in the center of a large granite post and lintel structure. The soldier is dressed in rain gear and holds his rifle vertically out in front of him. He stands on a low hexagonal granite base. The granite structure around the soldier consists of six vertical granite beams topped by five horizontal granite beams. Six bronze plaques listing the names of Korean War veterans are attached to the vertical beams. The names of Korean battlefields are incised on the horizontal beams. Surrounding the granite structure is a walkway made of bricks incised with the names of veterans. Eight granite benches incised with additional names of veterans are installed around the perimeter of the brick walkway. Speakers positioned around the memorial play an audio tape that gives information on the Korean conflict."
and provides the inscriptions as well:
"Skylight Studios(sic) 1993 (copyright symbol) sculptors Moisey(sic)Altshuler/Robert Shure (On granite base of figure:) THE AMERICAN SOLDIERS WHO SACRIFICED THEIR/LIVES ON KOREAN SOIL FOR FREEDOM HAVE/LAID A FOUNDATION STONE FOR THE ETERNAL BOND/BETWEEN TWO NATIONS, THIS STONE FROM KOREA/SYMBOLIZES THE FOUNDATION/- DR. SAN SEEK PARK/AMBASSADOR - REP. OF KOREA (On front of memorial, on center granite beam:) MASSACHUSETTS KOREAN WAR/VETERANS MEMORIAL (names and battlefields are incised on the granite horizontal beams) (names of war veterans appear on bronze plaques attached to vertical granite beams) (eight granite benches are incised with inscriptions dedicated to those who died during the war) signed Founder's mark appears."
