This 2,5 meter tall bronze sculpture of the female hunter Diana is located in Randers. Held high over her head she holds a bird, hunted with the bow she keeps by her side.

Diana is the Roman goddess of the hunt, associated with wild animals and the forests. Daughter of Jupiter and Latona, and twin sister of Apollo. She was also the moon goddess, and a symbol of chastity. She was praised for her strength, athletic grace, beauty and skill for hunting.

Vilhelm Bissen used the actor Dagmar Hansen (1871-1959) as model when he created the statue. The figure, which was created in 1890, is considered among the principal works of Bissen. In the sculpture, the older classicist tradition is joined with the new departure of naturalism of the time.

The Sculpture is donated by Forskønnelsesforeningen (the organisation for beautification of the city), to mark the 50th anniversary of the organisation.
