Kungsparken is in an area that originally formed part of Malmo castle fortifications.
The area became Malmo's first public park and was landscaped by the Danish landscape architect O Hoegh Hansen. He chose to layout the park in the style of an English Park.
This fountain in the middle of the park is of a classical design and made of cast iron.
The fountain stands at the centre of a shallow pool and stands on a small stone plinth. Standing on the plinth are four cherubs blowing horns from which water flows. Above this is an iron stand supporting a bowl on which stands 2 birds, possibly herons, and from which water cascades into the pool.
Above this is a further bow on which a semi nude woman is standing holding a lantern in her left hand, raised high in the high air, from which the main jet rises vertically.
