The three dimensional griffin is constructed of welded metal. The sculpture has a bright red LED light at the Griffin's heart which is illuminated at night. The griffin is to symbolize the griffins which were previous perched on the corners of the roof of the nearby Carnegie Library which were removed during a 1938 renovation however Toby escaped and left his footprints until he got to this corner. Toby is painted a bright orange color.
