Very little of the right-of-way of the Pacific Northwest Traction Co., Northern Division exists today with one notable example. This is the section from Fairhaven to Larrabee State Park.
The Rotary Trailhead is one of the best places to start with a sizable parking lot. At this point you are 6/10th of mile (just under a kilometre) from the start at 10th and Harris in Bellingham's Fairhaven district.
On the way to Larrabee State Park two significant trestles have been lost. One at Arroyo Park requires a steep decline then a steep incline to regain the right-of-way. But otherwise this route is very close to the original right-of-way.
It runs through impressive second growth forests on the sides of Chuckanut Mountain. And there is the occasional keyhole vista of portions of the Salish Sea. It is a very impressive rails-to-trails.
