One of the 1890’s Victorian homes built at the height of the oil boom. Unusual in that it was constructed from two earlier homes that were moved to the site.

Robert C. Marwick, a local machinist, and his wife Catherine, constructed 359 Garfield in 1890; reputably from two houses moved from Pit Hole, a now non-existent shanty town for oil drillers on the north-east corner of Petrolia.
The home is an example of Victorian Gothic Revival, typical in the area, with a two-story high gable roof, decorative barge boards, classical columns support a full open verandah and a frieze decorated cornice box.
Marwick house has been in the family of the current owners since 1951 and was the local winner of the “Victorian Style” category in the 2005 Winterlights Celebration.
