Lakeside Park is Nelson's major park, running for a kilometre or so along the West Arm of Kootenay Lake. It contains almost everything one would ever expect to find in a park, from about 75 benches to sit on to bocce pits to artwork to a labyrinth to a beach, and a whole lot more. With open spaces to play and mature trees for shade on the really hot days, this is a great place to while away the hours.
For impromptu picnics or semi-formal functions, the Rotary Picnic Shelter has barbecues enough to feed dozens and undercover seating for them, too.
