George D. Forney was part of the class of 1931 of George School, my alma mater. The plantings surround a stone bridge just before our meetinghouse. There is a marker on the northeast end of the bridge, inset into the stone which reads:
Plantings
In Vicinity of Bridge
In Memory Of
George D. Forney
1931
Unfortunately, I was unable to find out the age of the marker or who this man was besides being part of our school community. The marker is old, probably at least fifty years.
If you choose to visit the George School, come on Sunday during meeting for worship and park in the to adjacent to the meetinghouse. All are welcome. Pull in off of Newtown-Langhorne Road on an unmarked road at coordinates N 40° 12.680 W 74° 55.834. You'll see playing fields on the right and left. Come to the intersection and the parking lot is on the right and the meetinghouse and bridge are on the left. This is a fun place to visit.
