Der belgische Bildhauer Constantin Meunier (1831-1905) schuf im Jahr 1890 die Skulptur "Sämann". Die Bronzeplastik steht auf einem Steinsockel am Südwesteingang des Günthersburgparks.
Die Skulptur stellt einen ausschreitenden Landarbeiter in typischer Körperhaltung dar: Die linke Hand hält den Saatbeutel und die rechte Hand führt die Geste des Säen aus. Die Figur ist lebensgroß mit bloßem Oberkörper und barfuß. Durch die aktive Haltung wirkt sie dynamisch und lebendig. Das Motiv "arbeitende Menschen" wird als charakteristisch für das bildhauerische Werk Meuniers angesehen.
Die Skulptur ist eine Stiftung des Unternehmers Leo Gans, mit Hilfe seines Kunstfonds kaufte die Stadt Frankfurt im Jahr 1906 zwei Meunier-Plastiken an, den "Sämann" und den "Hafenarbeiter".

The Belgian sculptor Constantin Meunier (1831-1905) created in 1890 the sculpture "Sämann" (the Sower). The bronze sculpture stands on a stone pedestal at the south-west entrance to the park Günthersburgpark.
The sculpture represents a striding farm worker in a typical posture: The left hand holds the Seed Satchel and the right hand performs the gesture of sowing. The figure is life sized with the naked torso and barefoot. By active attitude and it looks dynamically and alive. The motif of "working people" is considered to be characteristic of Meunier's sculptural work.
The sculpture is a foundation of the entrepreneur Leo Gans, with the help of his his art fund, the city of Frankfurt bought in 1906 two Meunier-sculptures, the "Sämann" and the "Hafenarbeiter" (dock worker).
