Construction on the present church building was begun in 1941, and it was dedicated on January 6, 1943. The church is built of natural stone with seashells, fossils, and decorative stones placed in the façade by members of the parish brought between the natural stone. Parishioners dedicated the nearby grotto on October 16, 1949 to Our Lady of Peace as a sign of their devotion and a hopeful prayer for the conversion of Russia.
On July 15, 1964 a new parish hall was dedicated. A Texas historical marker on the face of the parish hall reads: Site of the oldest church building in Alpine, originally called Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, completed in 1892 and in continuous use as a church until 1942, and as a parish hall until 1964. Recorded Texas Historic Landmark, 1965.
