While geocaching in the Dakotas we came across the final resting place for Wm. Curley Grimes. "Curley" was a notorious Black Hills outlaw who was buried right where he was killed while trying to escape en route to the Deadwood jail in February 1879.

The small stone marker reads:
"Wm. (Curley) Grimes" "1850 - 1879"
"Buried with his head down
just as he fell
the whispering pines
will never tell"

The grave is located on farm/ranch land up the slope from Old Stone Road, on the east side of I90, south of Sturgis, SD.
First Name: Wm. "Curley"
