This is the Centre Star Gulch reservoir, named after the mine of the same name which operated from about 1895 to 1929 and is the City of Rossland's primary water source, and as such is well posted regarding all the things one CANNOT do in, on or near it. Basically, it's a no go zone, as they don't want their water sullied any more than absolutely necessary.

The reservoir is about 1,500 feet long and averages just under 200 feet in width. This gives it an area of just under 7 acres, or an acre-foot of water for every foot of depth. That last, the depth, is left to speculation. The reservoir's capacity, however, is advertised as being 120,000 cubic metres. It is fed from another reservoir higher up, the Ophir Reservoir, which has a 165,000 cubic metre capacity, as well as intake pipes in Topping Creek.

The earthen dam is about 200 feet wide and somewhere between fifteen and twenty feet high on the water side and only about 5 or 6 feet high on the other, upper wide. The reason for the presence of this upper dam on the reservoir is that the reservoir receives most of its water from feeder pipes and the Ophir Reservoir, instead of inflow from the creek in this gulch.
