The post box has bars in front of it, presumably to signal to people that it is no longer in use.
When I was taking a photo, the owner of the building came to have a chat. He said that one the building is renovated he planned to remove the bars and give the box a fresh coat of paint. Only after leaving did it occur to be that an amateur paint job may not be a necessarily good idea from a preservation point of view.
