Former passenger/freight depot on the Grand Trunk/CN mainline in Brighton, ON.
The station was built for the Grand Trunk in 1857, and was an important stop on the CN/CP mainlines as it was the gateway to nearby Presqu'ile Provincial Park. In its heyday, the depot would see thousands of passengers over the busy summer months.
In its latter days, passenger service was eventually discontinued, and the depot remained as a waypoint for CN express freight services and maintenance crews. The depot was finally closed and abandoned in 1962.
In 1995, a local railroad aficionado purchased the building from CN and turned it into a railroad museum. Over the years he has developed a sizeable collection of memorabilia and rolling stock.
The museum is open primarily in the summer months.
