Until August 1994 the town was the town of DePere so to avoid the confusion with the city of DePere the town applied to change its name to Ledgeview.
The town was established on March 8, 1839, by the Wisconsin Territorial Legislature and is the second oldest town in contiguous existence in Brown County.
The park is bordered on the east by the Scary Hill Water Towers, on the south Scary Hill Road, on the west by Hawthorne Heights Drive and the north by private residence.
