The landmark Davis hall administration building for Friends University has been a Wichita treasure since it was built in 1886. This grand building by architects Proudfoot and Bird of Wichita wound up costing the newly-chartered Garfield University $200,000 to build -- a sum that the start-up college could ill afford to pay once the Wichita land craze collapsed.
