It was this location, several blocks from the centre of town, that was to be its salvation. In the early part of the twentieth century Rossland had its share of fires, most notably those of 1902, 1927 and 1929, which destroyed a good portion of the central core of the town. Being well away from this mayhem, the building still stands. Now a private dwelling, it shares almost no outward appearance with its former self.
The hotel is listed in the Official Rossland Heritage Registry: http://www.rossland.ca/sites/default/files/city-services_development-services_city-of-rossland-heritage-registry_2011-03-25.pdf
Though the building itself has survived about 117 years of use and abuse, its history has not. Not much is now known about its history as a hotel or about how or when it became a private residence.
