De Schollevaar gives you a glimpse into the cormorant colony. Here you can see the birds on their nests with their youngsters. The hut is not freely accessible and just to visit during SBB Excursions.

The Oostvaardersplassen are a young nature reserve of some 5600 acres (56 km²) between Almere and Lelystad in the Dutch province of Flevoland. The Oostvaardersplassen are of international importance as wetland and wintering area for birds. The area can be divided roughly into two parts: a wet (approximately 3600 ha) and dry (about 2000 ha) area. The dry part is a suitable habitat for large herbivores.
