The Pensacola World War II Memorial is located in the northeast corner of Admiral Mason Park on Bayfront Parkway. The Park also contains World War I, Korean War, Vietnam War (a half-scale version of the "Wall") and Combat Wounded Memorials.
The memorial is a fifty-foot stone circle. Centered in the circle is a large granite "II" with a bronze V-for-victory. Four life-size bronze figures representing the Army, Army Air Corps, Navy and Marines
surround the "II". A fifth life-size bronze figure of an Army nurse stands to the side. The dedication text, "This memorial is dedicated to the 16 million men and women who served on land, At sea, in the air, and at home during World War II. Our nation shall be forever grateful to those who defended freedom and our American way of life.", is engraved in the walkway into the memorial.
This impressive memorial was designed and sculpted by Bob Rasmussen.
