The church is a reflection of the lengthy French Canadian history in the area dating back to Samuel de Champlain and the Jesuit Missionaries in 1630. This community was the location of a lumber mill and primarily a French Canadian Community.
The parish was established in 1835, however, that date cannot be confirmed for the church, although locally it is believed to date to the time. Mass is held in both French and English though times vary according to season. The English name is Saint Patrick's Church, Perkinsfield.
The picture shows the church circa 1880 which is the earliest date that can be confirmed for the church. Clearly the church steeple has been modified since that time and clearly dates to some time after that. The church's exterior is now clad in aluminum siding and one of the chimney's shown in 1880 is now gone.
