"The Southern Pacific, one of the flagship railroad industries, stretching from California to Missouri, was a regular fixture in the Pinole area until its purchase by Union Pacific in 1996. However, nestled in the downtown area on the corner of Tennent and Railroad Avenue, passersby can treat themselves to a bit of history.

Visible from the street is the Southern Pacific Caboose 1151 on the Fernandez Mansion property. A plaque commemorates the date when the Southern Pacific donated this caboose to the Pinole Historical Society in 1992." (visit link)
