SALAM Masjid - Sacramento, CA - Mosques on Waymarking.com

When this mosque was used for the Friday prayer for the first time on August 13, 2010, it was the culmination of effort that began in 1987. SALAM is located across from the American River College campus on College Oak Drive.

Currently the mosque does not have a minaret, though a base was incorporated at one corner of the building, and it awaits individual donations to be completed. SALAM is an acronym for Sacramento Area League of Associated Muslims, and it thus strives to promote Islamic teachings, understanding, and unity among Muslims in the Sacramento area Community. To quote from the SALAM website: "SALAM has transcended sectarianism. Whenever we are asked whether our center is a Sunni or a Shiite Masjid; our response is that this is simply a “Muslim” Masjid."
