"This Tower Well is dedicated in honor of Fred Eyerly. Fred served on the City Council from 1975 to 1983 and was mayor in 1982. He had a strong interest in the community, and the municipal utilities in particular. Fred was instrumental in the early success of the Northern California Power Agency as well as the City's acquisition of a key, long-term power resource, the Calaveras Hydroelectric Project. In 1991, he served as the first chairperson of the Utilities Advisory Commission and provided continued leadership on utilities issues until 1998. Fred was a kind and capable man who provided outstanding service to the Palo Alto community."
