The gauge is marked in metres and was showing a height of 2.3 metres at the time the photo was taken. The gauge is to the south of Gun Wharf where there is an indentation in the quay. It is positioned so that river traffic, passing in a southerly direction can see it. The backboard is white with black numerals.
