Ebenezer United Methodist Church was built in the late 1800's. It's listed on the National Register of Historic Places with a "significant period" of 1875 to 1899, meaning the very latest this church could have been built is 1899.
Interstingly, this church is within the boundaries of Jordan Lake State Recreational Area, but is fortunately located on high ground, so wasn't flooded out when Jordan Lake was filling up in the late 1960's (as was much of New Hope Valley). Since the church existed before the lake and was above high water, it was allowed to remain in place.
This remains an active congregation. The building is constructed in the Gothic Revival style popular in the late 1800's. There is a cemetery behind the church.
The community of Bells no longer exists, at least as a Post Office address. The church's official address is now listed as being in Apex.
