Le marais de la Rivière aux Cerises a de quoi surprendre. Situé dans le cœur touristique des Cantons-de-l'Est, entre le parc du Mont-Orford et le lac Memphrémagog, il se laisse découvrir à quelques pas seulement du centre-ville de Magog. Là, sur un territoire de 1,5 km2, boisés, marais, marécages et tourbière s'enlacent et engendrent une biodiversité impressionnante. Des centaines d'oiseaux, de mammifères et d'amphibiens trouvent au Marais de quoi se nourrir, s'abriter, chanter et se reproduire durant toute l'année.
Belle et sauvage, la nature du Marais est aussi humaine. Si l'ère glaciaire a donné naissance à ce milieu humide, il a gagné du terrain grâce aux barrages construits dès 1797 à la décharge du lac Memphrémagog pour répondre aux besoins économiques de la ville de Magog.
The marshes of the Cherry River is surprising. Located in the tourist heart of the Eastern Townships Eastern Townships, between the Parc du Mont-Orford, Lake Memphremagog, it can be discovered just steps from downtown Magog. There, on an area of ??1.5 km2, woodlands, marshes, swamps and bogs embrace and generate an impressive biodiversity. Hundreds of birds, mammals and amphibians found in Marais enough food, shelter, sing and reproduce throughout the year.
Wild and beautiful, nature of Marais is also human. If the Ice Age gave birth to the wetland, it has gained through the dams in 1797 at the outlet of Lake Memphremagog to meet the economic needs of the city of Magog.
