This famous clock is mounted on Dubrovnik's City Bell Tower, a 31m stand-alone momument originally built in 1444 and located in the city's main square.

The clock is actually composed of two separate elements:

At first glance, the top portion of the "dual clock" looks like an artistically pleasant yet quite typical analog clock: a light beige face with a simple dial made out of gray roman numerals, all stylishly decorated with a black moon in the face's center from which 10 undulating thin rays emanate. Upon closer inspection, however, one notices that the clock has no "minute" hand, just an "hour" hand which actually is one of the 10 undulating rays: the entire ray structure rotates clockwise over a 12-hour period.

The bottom portion of the "dual clock" is yet another analog time-keeping device, but contains only two rotating drums: one drum represents the hours (in roman numerals), the other drum represents the minutes (in 5 minute intervals, using western numerals).

Thus "10:53" is represented as follows:
* The hour hand is placed right before the face's "XI" marker
* The two drums display "X" and "50" respectively
while "11:21" is represented as follows:
* The hour hand is placed a little after the face's "XI" marker
* The two drums display "XI" and "20" respectively.
