Die Apostelkirche ist das Gotteshaus für die Orte Großzschocher und Windorf. Am Portal empfangen Sie zwei etwas strenge Figuren: der Apostel (griechisch: Gesandter) Petrus mit dem Schlüssel und der Apostel Paulus mit dem Schwert in der Hand. Diese Figuren, erst 1926 angefertigt, gaben der Kirche 1950 ihren Namen Apostelkirche.
Die Strenge der Apostel wird von dem Wetterengel hoch oben auf dem zweigipfligen Turm gemildert. Seine Botschaft könnte für die Gemeinde wie für alle anderen Einwohner in Großzschocher-Windorf das Wort von Dietrich Bonnhoefer (+ 1945) sein:
Von guten Mächten wunderbar geborgen,
erwarten wir getrost was kommen mag,
Gott ist mit uns am Abend und am Morgen,
und ganz bestimmt an jedem neuen Tag.

The Apostolic Church is the house of God for the places and Grosszschocher Windorf.
