This statue of the sitting buddha is about four feet high, mounted on a rectangular base about four feet high, located in the courtyard of the school. There are small incense burners and flower holders on each side.

This school serves villages and houses for many miles around these remote hills. It was freshly painted with many new enhancements being done in preparation for a visit from the Princess of Thailand who takes a great interest in education. The people in this area are primarily Lahu tribal groups that immigrated here from China and Myanmar during World War II. This area is accessible only by four-wheel drive vehicles and motor bikes over steep, mostly unpaved roads that turn to slick mud in the rain.
