First Baptist Church in Henderson, KY is located on Center St between S Green and N Elm St. It is across Center St from another old church, St. Paul's Episcopal Church.
The church was originally started in 1839 as the First United Baptist Church of Henderson with 35 members meeting in a home. The church then built their first building, at the site of the present church building. The first pastor was H.B. Wiggin. It is also said to have been one of the first 9 Baptist churches in the state of Kentucky.
The current church building was built following the first building coming to a state of disrepair. In 1893, the cornerstone was laid for the current building.
