Almost all of the sculptures in Oslo's Frogner Park (there are approximately 150) are by Gustav Vigeland. This is just one of them and is located in the northern end of the western side of the central bridge.
This one is a little different than most of the others. Although the two figures, an adult man and an adult woman are naked, instead of standing, they are presented in the center of a ring which would appear to be rolling like a tire. The man is upside down on the right side while the woman is moving upwards on the left. It is clear the circle is moving clockwise and the woman is grasping the mans legs with her arms.
Unfortunately, none of Vigeland's works have placards which inform us of a title for the piece...and the poster of this Waymark was unable to find a catologue online. The name of the Waymark will be amended if additional information comes forth indicating the work's true title.
Vigeland constructed the sculptures from 1924 to 1944...but again, there is no information at the site about each individual piece's date.
