On the 2nd anniversary of the 9/11 attacks a Samanea Saman tree was planted in honor of the citizens of the East Caribbean countries who died in the 911 attacks in the United States. Most of the casualties on September 11, 2001 from the East Caribbean were citizens of Trinidad and Tobago, 15. The Samanea Saman tree is a neotropical flowering tree commonly called the Raintree.

An engraved stone plaque set into a rectangular base is inscribed:

SAMANEA SAMAN

Planted by the American staff of the
U.S. Embassy to Barbados
and the Eastern Caribbean
to honor those Eastern Caribbean citizens
who lost their lives and loved ones
in the September 11, 2001 attacks
in the United States
